well, hey…Draper!
Ah…early morning. Giant mugs of coffee. It must be Draper, Utah, U.S.A.
Here in the beautiful Salt Lake Basin (is that technically correct, that this whole area is the basin?) getting ready for Day 2 of meetings galore.
Yesterday was good. I only cried once, and not even during the meeting. (Actually, i'm not usually the one who cries at meetings, but…seeing my good friend and colleague Stacy made me feel all weepy and sentimental because I truly don't get to see her that often, and if it weren't for her, I would likely not be doing any of this, and sometimes, I'm not sure if that's the best thing ever or...well, the opposite of the best thing ever...) But i am way digressing...
Want to know something cool though? Walking through the offices of CK Media, and seeing some of the projects from Ali's forthcoming new book, which I don't even know if it has a name (Ali, does it?) but holy mother of PEARL are the projects cool. That, and glancing over by the CK Media color printer, I peeked at some of the actual pages in progress from her book, just laying there on the recycling pile.... TOTALLY cool design for this book. So excited to see this when it's done. Go, Ali E.
Wanted to say thanks for everyone who shares all your Neil linkage and love with me. I check them ALL out. I may go out on a musical tangent every now and then, but I don't forget that it's neil who butters my bread... (huh?)
Oh... couple of questions to answer: 1. The Chipina Slideshow was created using iPhoto, on the mac. It has a slideshow option. You pick music, you pick photos, and you click on the "Add Ken Burns Effect" button. Just like that. 2. Right now, I use HP premium photo papers because I use an HP Photosmart printer. Um…i think that's it.
Off to take a shower. Onto another day of meetings.

It's technically called the Salt Lake Valley. You can call it anything you want. Unless off course you want to look like an out of towner. Welcome to Utah. After reading your blog I feel like you're my buddy. Does that make me a stalker. I know all about you and you have no idea who I am. Kinda creepy.

Cathy, are you going to CHA this year?
please say yes.
Can't wait to see Ali's book-she was teasing us with a few of her ideas last time she visited our part of the world.

oh, and I had to watch Youtoube for an entire afternoon cuz of your links. The Conchords are hysterical. I loved it. And BNL is dreamy.

The Paul Anka song that you used with your slide show... where did you find that at? I checked ITunes to no avail.... loved that version.......Thank you for sharing with all of us on how you made that touching tribute to Chippy...

Hey where did your picture go on BPS? Been away for a little while, but did notice that it was gone. Are you not going to teach this year? Dang it! (utah slang)

So many words here today! I hope that means...aw, let's not jinx it, 'kay?
Can I tell you about a band I recently found and have fallen in love with? They're called Hot Chip and there a little lite techno, a little pop, and wholly enjoyable. This video of theirs is wonderful performance art in the making set to a song you have to listen to at least three times in order to truly appreciate, but ends up being the song I want to listen to every night as I fall asleep, their voices are so comforting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtxAou8c28k&mode=related&search=
And yes, I heart youtube, too. I love music enough to pay for xm and dislike tv enough not to have cable...but I still want to see the music sometimes. What a lifesaver. :)

Thank you sooooo much for the BNL link. I just saw them last weekend - they are my very favorite live band. Such great energy and humor. What's not to love?? :) Thanks again! Have a great time in Utah.

Hey there Cathy-I am totally excited for Ali's book. Of all the idea books I've bought (and yes, like most of us I've bought quite a few) yours and Ali's still have a special place on my nightstand.

So, thinking about music...I just wanted to share the happy news that even while I lamented to you before about the Milwaukee CH show lacking the goodness that is Mr. Yorn, he is now coming in August! Headlining!
And I have tickets. Not the best tickets, but tickets that keep me from the pot-smoking 16-year-olds. And I am happy.
Also happy to hear about the neatness of Ali E's upcoming book. It's sounding pretty rockin' (but perhaps not quite as rockin' as the beauty of Pete Yorn serenading me...mmm).

I was visiting my sister in Orem during your visit to Draper........I'm sure we crossed paths! :) Yes, I had BIG mugs of coffee too, I even packed my coffee maker on the plane. My wine cooler bottle would have broke.
