We're bringin' Chippie back…yeah
Them other dogs don't know how to act…yeah.
Okay, she's not actually HERE quite yet, but she will be here later on today for a stay through the weekend, as the lovely Smith family have need to be away for a few days.
I'm so excited, I don't think I'll be able to any work done today!
I've got it all planned out! We'll hang out and I'll talk a lot, and pet her incessantly, and she'll sleep. It's going to be GREAT!
I realize it seems that I should probably bite the bullet and get a dog of my own. But I know I'm not ready for that kind of responsibility just yet. All around me, people have these great dogs, and seem to be managing just fine. But me? Not ready. Not just yet.
Now if you'll forgive me, I have to go start sterilizing Chip's drinking water.

If Donna can bite the bullet- you can! :) Maybe start with an older dog, ya know, all ready trained, just needs a person. Rather than a puppy... too much work!

yeaaa for you and Chippie! savor every moment! :-) and just for the record, I think that 99% of the time dogs are a direct reflection of what they "get" from their humans, so if you do get a dog, rescue one, and love on it, be their alpha and they will looove you right back. :-)

I totally agree with Janis (but then again I do boxer rescue and have had only rescue's for the past 18 years). I'm so happy that you have Chippie for the weekend! YOU ALL will have a blast!

golden's are just THE best dogs - Bailey is our current golden (we've had 3). I wish I could attach a picture so you could see our old gray beard - what's not to love! Looking forward to hearing more Chippie stories.

Cathey - in response to yesterday's post (not sure if you go back and read historic comments after a new post is posted). . .anyway. I love how his mouth is soooo wide open in the baby shot and in the birthday shot of glee. Must be some page in there somewhere - similarities, etc. I'll leave the creativity to you, but I just thought I'd share what I saw. You can now say 'duh - the page is already done :) Happy birthday Cole.

Cathy-- enjoy the visits!! I act the same way when my daughter has me babysit my "grandpuppy"... I love that she visits... sometimes on long extended vacations like Chips---but its nice that we all get that break in between.

Just get a dog, seriously! There are so few times in life when we think "I shouldn't have spent all that time lovin' on the dog"
I love the new header...although you promised mustaches for all! where's yours?

You have Chippie back for the weekend and almost as importantly you got Odile! I want that font so badly I dream in lines of pretty whimsical text.

I hope you and your family and friends are safe...I'm just horrified by watching this unfold on the news. My prayers to everyone in the Minneapolis area.

I am also hoping that you, your family and friends are all well tonight. I am thinking of you while watching CNN. How terrifying.

Don't know how close you are to Minneapolis...hope you and yours are safe and sound.

When you do start to think seriously about getting a dog, consider a rescue group. There are some wonderful adult dogs waiting to be adopted. They'll be housetrained and you'll get a great glimpse into their personalities, much more than you would with a puppy.
Here near Cleveland, we have GRIN--Golden Retrievers In Need and a Senior Sanctuary for older dogs. We adopted the best beagle in the world, Bentley, from a beagle rescue. He adopted us, really.
Thanks for taking up your blog again. I love reading it.

OMG; I came here hoping that you'd posted that you are NOT near that horrible bridge collapse. Prayers for all of those families...

Hope everything is ok with your family and friends. Thinking about all the people we know in Minneapolis.
Posted by: Betsy | August 01, 2007 at 08:39 PM
I hope you and your family are okay. You're the only family I know who lives in Minneapolis and I'm praying that you weren't near the bridge. Thinking of you.

Hope you're safe and were not on the 35W bridge.

Kids need dogs and dogs need kids. I would be lost without my two Jack Russell pups. Who else are you going to talk to at 1 am when you cant get that page just right.
Posted by: Tanja | August 01, 2007 at 10:51 PM
Maybe you should just adopt a Chip-esque dog?? Huh?? Find an older dog that is very well loved but the family has to leave him/her behind because they're moving cross country or they can't have pets, etc. THAT'S what you need
OR
you can just steal Chip :)

Hey you know how they say that all the good men are married? What if all the good dogs are taken? OM.
