a bit more
There were a few questions on my little Emily-inspired album, and because I'm really lame at answering questions (and it's not that my heart isn't full of love and compassion, but more along the lines of I am… lazy) I thought i'd write a bit more on it.
Um. Okay. Yes, my album has a chipboard front and back. The back is 8 x 8, roughly. But the inside is just all papers and bits and pieces of stuff. No chipboard inside.
I'm following Emily's lead, and making sure there are 52 pages to write on, one for each week of the year. I am going to stamp numbers and such over the next few weeks.
That paper with the blue trim and the scalloped edge? That, my friends, is the most adorable little pad you will ever find from my good friends at Making Memories. I used several pages from this clever little notepad in this album.
And someone had asked if i printed the type right onto the photo on the Girl Gathering layout. Yes. Yes i did. I dropped the photo into an InDesign document, then typed the title and subhead onto the photo, and changed the color of the type to white.
Because I'm cool like that.
Love,
Cathy

Cathy!! Thanks so much for sharing 'a bit more'!! That journaling book is the cutest thing ever for sure...could be used as it is or split up for so many other things! It is going on my scrapbook.com wishlist right now and I'm sending it to my husband...maybe this year I'll get something better than belts for my car!!

Thank you Oh Cool One! Absolutely LOVE this book and the way you put it together - even if the original came from another!

Sorry - another question! Aren't we nosey?! Is that 52 pages as in the front and back counts as 2, so there's actually 26 pages? Or 52 pages, period?
Thanks. That's it for questions. Unless you happen to know a magical recipe to feed 3 people that uses only 2 eggs, a kiwi fruit, 7 carrots and 3 questionably fresh slices of bread? I can't be bothered to go grocery shopping.

Great album! But I can't help but wonder - doesn't the lack of symmetry freak you OUT??? This looks like it's completely out of your comfort zone! ;)

Cathy, I saw this quote recently and thought it was so appropriate with the gratitude book. Thanks for the inspiration. Julie
"If you just look at all that already exists in your life, all that you already have: unlimited air to breathe, ample lighting to see, music to hear, books to read, stars to dream by, trees to gaze at, floors to dance on, friends to cavort with, enemies to befriend, strangers to meet, woods to walk through, beaches to comb, rocks to scale, rains to cleanse you, rivers to float you, animals to comfort you, you do have to admit, there's more of it than you could ever, ever, ever spend."

Hi Cathy! I LOVE this album! For a while I've been trying to come up with a non-fussy journal for my daughters, one that I could keep for each of them and write to them over the course of a year. When I saw the journal you created, I immediately grabbed my stash of papers and started this project last night. I just LOVE how this type of journal can grow over the course of a year as well, adding "bits and pieces" :) Thank you soooooo much for posting your GEORGEOUS album!

I love your photography!!!!!!!! How do you shoot the photo of your slippers and the one of the album so that the main thing is in focus and the rest is out of focus?? Love everything you do!!! and enjoy your humor!

This has been so inspiring! Thanks for sharing. After finishing your last book, I am totally prepared for the challenge (I hope!) I plan to do my whole 2008 album in this sort of format but bigger so I can add photos from the week, inspiring e-mails, news stories, whatever appeals to me. Some weeks may be the normal stuff like laundry or taco night and some will have events. I can't wait for 2008 to start so I can get cracking.... =)
