BAD IDEA
How good would it feel, as a designer, to slap a sticky note on someone else's work that simply said: BAD IDEA?
I know. It's cruel, but you too can print out your own set of Design Police flag notes and go to town, imposing your design judgement on all who fear to tread. Download them here. (Thanks, Andie !)
So there's that, and then there's this.
Jerry makes me look like a mere child. (Thanks, Alissa!)
I KNEW I should've worn a turtleneck.

ROFL! Those stickers are priceless. And also, Jerry totally made me dig out the depends.

Way to go Jerry, that was great. The bit about the bunny and the apple, made as much, no actually more sense than Tom's ramblings. Jerry's laugh was perfect. He has some guts doing that.

Ha! That Jerry is too funny. Your vid was so awesome, too. Thanks for the sticker link! I LOVE them! Oh so handy in my job.

I think you and Jerry are totally even. :)

While Jerry's was funny, your's was GREAT!! Plus, you could not be suppressed, as you are now on a nationally syndicated radio show website!!

Omigosh. First I laughed like mad at the stickers (totally gonna use them!) and then that video?! WOW!! *can't stop giggling*
STILL love yours tho!! :D

Too funny !!!
And I think I read that Jerry got the turtleneck from the Scientology Rummage Sale, where it was rumored that they were selling Suri's newborn screams !!
Posted by: karin | January 23, 2008 at 11:22 AM
Funny stuff, CZ! Thanks for sharing! But now I'm going to be a little paranoid about putting my stuff (LO's) out here on the internet for fear my work will get "tagged". LOL
Posted by: O | January 23, 2008 at 11:33 AM
LOL! Love these stickers so much.
Yes, I'm a bitch. :)
Thanks for sharing.

The entire design team got that link!
Posted by: Michelle | January 23, 2008 at 12:09 PM
Think I'd get blacklisted if I used those "stickers" for real? I can so see the need! LOVE Jerry! He's been one of my faves since his days on Sliders and I just knew he had an evil side! Thanks for digging that up! You're the best!

I sooo know where you're coming from with those stickers. I haven't scrapbooked in 3 yrs and just went thru my stash...the move occurred 2.5 yrs ago...I'm looking at the current layouts and it looks like people are back to upchucking the latest embellishments on pages. Where did the clean scrapbooking go?
Oh wait...maybe it only existed in my mind's eye? It's sort of seeming pointless. It's more about taking the photographs anymore.
Posted by: paula | January 23, 2008 at 12:20 PM
I am printing those on my plotter on adhesive vinyl as we speak.
Oh, I love them!!! I have several things within reach I could easily put them on.
Thank you!!

BRILLIANT!!!!!
I would have to use a whole page for my current boss. But tomorrow when I start at a marketing company, I better keep these close at hand!
love this.
wish I could have seen these while I was in college! (getting a degree for G.D.)

Posted by: jenwcom | January 23, 2008 at 02:17 PM
Jerry's parody is so funny! And yours was great, too. BTW, yours is the 5th or 6th one when I googled "Tom Cruise parody." Good stuff!

I believe I have just fallen in love with Jerry Oconnell
Posted by: Connie W | January 23, 2008 at 02:56 PM
these are too to funny. Also good even of you aren't a designer. I can use them on my kids.
Love the video. His laugh was spot on.
Posted by: suetreiber | January 23, 2008 at 03:13 PM
LOL- I could hang out with Jerry I think. Very funny. I have to admit when I saw yours I didn't have a clue about the Tom Cruise original. So I watched yours and thought.... WT*&($#? Cathy has lost her mind! I was relieved when it all came together and I realized you were in fact just funny and not insane!
Posted by: Ali Lipton | January 23, 2008 at 03:26 PM
Very funny Tom spoof again!
Loved the designer stickers---had to email the link to my husband---the sign guy & graphic artist... As a fine artist, I'd love to use these sometime during a group critique...but wonder if they'd see the humor or get their feelings hurt!?! Oh, just makes me laugh to think about it though...! (or wouldn't these be smashing for a juror to use when jurying in artwork for a show?! Ha! Ouch!)

These will come in very handy as you go about your days as a scrapbooker. Remember, YOU are the ONLY one who can stop them from making bad decisions, and now you have the sticker to stamp your mark. Go, girl!
Posted by: Patty N | January 23, 2008 at 04:41 PM
i think jerry is my new favorite actor. did you see the landlord video? nearly peed my pants.
Posted by: Emily Hoadley | January 23, 2008 at 04:53 PM
Jerry is hilarious and so are you! Thanks for the laughs.
Posted by: kelli | January 23, 2008 at 05:15 PM
These stickers are HYSTERICAL!! I teach web design to 10th grade students. I think my favorites are "Design copied from:" and "Microsoft Word is not a design tool". Printing these off in mass tomorrow!!
Posted by: Moni | January 23, 2008 at 05:20 PM
oh I would have loved those back in the days I did site analysis for a living... they just need one saying something about ridiculous amount of redundant code
Posted by: Alli | January 23, 2008 at 05:27 PM
I want a Jerry and Cathy video! Think he's up for it? Heck he's broke...could use some cash!!!!
Posted by: Rhonda | January 23, 2008 at 05:40 PM
well, since you are the ONLY one who can help that person who is about to commit a scrapbook disaster, you really MUST use those stickers. It is only because you're trying to help. It is your duty; your passion. I am not yet able to consider myself worthy of using those stickers, but maybe someday. :) Kari

It's about freakin time someone came up with an idea like this. I sometimes look at a page and think "WTF was she freakin thinkin? This girl better get her butt some of Cathy Z's design books and start studying pronto!"
Really, sometimes I look at a page and feel as if I'm the parent of a preschooler who feels compelled to say, "Oh, what a nice job" or "Nice work, honey".....when you just want to throw it in the garbage.
Thanks for posting what no one else has had the freakin cojones to say, Cathy!

love the labels, you ARE wickedly funny.
Posted by: Guess Who | January 23, 2008 at 09:53 PM
OMG! I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Jerry has all my respect now. He has totally been blacklisted for doing the greatest parody EVER about Hollywood Royalty/Scientology Commander. He is so real!

MWAHahaaa!
No turtleneck required. The theme music to Mission Impossible played on someone's cell phone today (ringtone) and your video came to mind mirrored to the opposing screenshot of Mr. Crazy. *grin*
Posted by: Charlene | January 24, 2008 at 12:03 AM
Jerry, Jerry, Jerry...LOL. I'll be laughing all day at that one.
Posted by: Kelly Jo | January 24, 2008 at 09:13 AM

I work in a corporate communications department and boy would I love to add some of these to some of ther stuff that I see. Sent to several co-workers. Thanks for sharing!
I see that you are teaching at BPS later this year - are you planning to have a love of scrapbooking back :) Looking forward to the class - Ireally enjoyed your books.
Posted by: Jennifer | January 24, 2008 at 02:12 PM
Love those stickers. I would love it if you could teach a BPS class where you could get to use them. I think I could learn so much if someone would point out the 'opportunities for improvement' in my stuff. I love a good critique.

I could use sheets of those stickers on practically every magazine/newspaper published these days. Would of loved to have them when I worked in advertising agencies and graphic design studios.
And Jerry's video is nearly as funny as yours.
