It has since been shaved off, but we couldn't decide: Lincolnesque? or Amish?
I'm thinking it's a bit plain, if you get my drift. Needless to say, as of 8 a.m. this morning, it's officially gone. It was a bit hard to look at him last night. Let's just say I'm not super into hooking up with dead presidents.
But not only were his creative shavings in honor of President's Day (go Presidents, go Presidents, it's your birthday) but the fact that he has removed the man-growth from his face signals one vital fact: my sweet friends' twin babies are home from the hospital! Let's hear it for Jack and Stella!
(Yes, I made the sign which I printed out on my rocking HP Photosmart printer, but opted NOT to also give them the Liam Finn CD. At least not before I give the babies my special "Steve Perry Loves You" Mix. I mean, you know, first things first!)
But the purpose of this post is far more critical, and here it is:
[edited: tickets have sold! } I HAVE TWO FOO FIGHTERS TICKETS I CANNOT USE! So as much as it breaks my heart to ask this…do you want to have my Date with Dave?
When: Feb.27 7:30 p.m.
Where: Target Center, Mpls.
Seats: Section 133 (lower seating level, above floor) Row Z (no, i didn't plan that) Seats 17 & 18.
Price: I paid $45 each for the tickets. Will gladly sell them for $30 each. (and that means you don't have to pay the horrible Ticketmaster taxes, because I already did. Go YOU!)
If you are local and are interested, email me at czdesign@comcast.net. There's plenty of time to mail them out to you via UPS and you know, you pay me etc.
And last but not least… Cole's new phase: Mount Everest. He sets up a fairly elaborate base camp in our family room. The comforter, in case you're wondering, is the Western Cwm. Thank God for imaginary crampons. That's all I'm sayin'.
Happy President's Day to all.

I am SOOOOOO sorry to hear that you won't be able to keep your date with Dave. We went to see the Fighters of Foo here in Orlando last month... and they were FANTASTIC!! SOOOOO WONDERFUL! I'm sorry that you will have to miss it :(

Amish

The Welcome Home sign is gorgeous--I have been staring at it and analyzing for the last 15 minutes. Do you mind if I borrow a little for an announcement of my own? I regret that I have only one little guy to announce, meaning that I will have to alter and re-invent a bit, and hope that it still balances and rocks all over like yours does here. (If only he'd come with a companion--damn the single birth.)
Thank you for the inspiration--I've been wondering what I would do and then I check up on Cathy and "Ahhh!" the heavens are opened. (And if your answer to my request is "no," let me apologize now for the impending thievery.)

your son has such an incredible imagination.
love that 'welcome home' sign.
you rock!

Cole rocks. Crampons are fun. But not inside! Tinfoil and cardboard crampons maybe?
Posted by: Sara | February 18, 2008 at 12:51 PM
lol, you should let Cole know that he's going to need tons more layers to make it to Base Camp, let alone the Western CWM. It is truly an amazing place...when we went, we saw one non-local kid the whole time (about 4 years old) and I thought to myself "Hmmm...I wonder if there's a kid in the world who would think freezing your tuckas off, breathing thin air and being warmed by yak dung fires is cool." Yak butter tea...he better get used to that too before the traverse (smile).

oh Cathy,
I am so sad you can't make to Foo Fighters. I have my date with Dave tonight! That sign is gorgeous!
Posted by: Amy | February 18, 2008 at 01:08 PM
Totally Amish.
Although it doesn't make me any hotter than dead presidents.
I wish mine would shave!

Love that gorgeous sign and am always happy that twin babies get to make it home.
My vote is AMISH

OMG I had to look up the word crampon... I was really stumped as to what those items could be. LOL
Glad to hear the twins have arrived home... what cool names :)

Sadly, it's pretty Amish. On a related note, remember all those Amish hotties in Witness? I mean, I know they were just actors. But still.
Posted by: Shannon | February 18, 2008 at 02:44 PM
amish or not--i still think it's pretty hot. which surprises me, actually. but it is what it is.

Poor man just looks tired. Get that man a day at the spa.
Lovely signage and great baby news.

Dan looks like he is contemplating the next barn raising! Very serious....cool pic. I love the sign you made. What a great friend you are and what an awesome printer that must be!
Posted by: annie | February 18, 2008 at 04:01 PM
This picture reminds me that I just read a magazine article with a bearded George Clooney on the cover with the headline "beards are back".
Dan may have shaved too soon-lol.

OMG you have to share what kind of lighting setup you had for that photo!! Don't tell me its just window lighting and black velvet, I'll be so jealous!
And that sign seriously ROCKS. Maybe more than the mix CD. ;)
Posted by: Trude | February 18, 2008 at 05:05 PM
One: The sign looks great, as does all of your work.
Two: Do you think that your husband could maybe try to pull off the Chris Daughtry look? He seems to be something of a hotty with the Lincoln/Amish/and the ever sexy Mario looks. :) Now mind you, I'm not talking shaved head, but the rest is something to consider.
Have a great "Pres" Day.

I vote Amish. He is cuter than Abe (in a non-coveting husband kind of way) very happily married here.

Your kid is the coolest. Do you think he's too young for "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer. It's one of my favorite books. On second thought, it might bum Cole out. But I'll bet he'll come across it when he's ready....
Posted by: MarieP | February 18, 2008 at 06:26 PM
OK, Cole is so definately gonna love Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom at Disney World. You should google some pictures if you haven't seen it already. It is such an awesome attraction.

AAAAARGH!!!!!! I cannot believe I have an opportunity to hone in on your date with Dave and I live in @$!%#@%$!@% KANSAS!!!! 'Cuz I gotta tell you friend, my hubby have been deployed since last February, won't be home until May, and a little Foo would do this girl wonders. Crap-ola. (Sorry about the rant.) Oh, and Amish, definitely.
Posted by: Kris | February 18, 2008 at 09:27 PM
OK, I'm dying to know what that scripty font is! Love the announcement, so happy that the twins are home.
Posted by: michelle | February 18, 2008 at 09:38 PM
Bummer that you can't use the tickets. I have tickets in the suites for the March 2nd show in AZ. Can't freakin' wait.
Posted by: MichelleF | February 18, 2008 at 10:37 PM
amish- for sure. And must share - my hubby has had a beard [full- moustache] for most of the last 10 -20 years or so. At Christmas, while going around the buffet his mother stops him and is STARING at his face, "What?" he says - and she goes, "Have you always had a moustache?" and he's like, yea, the whole beard thing for a while now...and she goes..."Well, I KNEW you had a beard, but I didn't think you had a moustache." SO I've been thinking and thinking, "What does a moustache-less beard look like?" And amish was the only thing I could come up with! So THANK YOU DAN for the visual! Good to hear the babes are home safe!
PS- Just got in from Scrap Bowl and LOVED Stacy!!! You two seem to 'think' like me so I can really connect to your books and planning and layouts! And Donna D stretched my creativity a little - very fun!

I am seeing Lincoln.
All Lincoln.
Perhaps Dan is channelling him?
Posted by: LaurenC | February 19, 2008 at 04:38 AM
Totally Amish.
And I know.
Cuz there are Amish in Indiana.
And how hard did the Foo Fighters ROCK at the Grammys?
I say HARD!

Okay, is it really immature that the word crampon makes me think "tampon" and then crease up as I imagine fit climbers hauling themselves up icy mountains using nothing but feminine hygene products?
Well, it does, and I did.
Posted by: Scarlett | February 19, 2008 at 08:15 AM
Hey! I'm just wondering what font you used to write "home" and "congratulations"? I love it!

Posted by: erin graham | February 19, 2008 at 09:45 AM
Ok..so apparently I'm as immature as scarlett because I ventured down the same 'crampon/tampon' path.
hee.
lovelovelovelovelove the birth announcement/sign...great fontage as usual.
Posted by: deB perry | February 19, 2008 at 01:46 PM
Oh, I love the sign1 I must know what the scripty font is? It is driving me craaazy. I know it but cannot place it. Please do tell!
You have inspired me since your first days on 2 peas. Long time ago. Thanks!
