Spawn of Neil, and more free tag book downloads
Saw Liam Finn at the Cedar Cultural Center on Minneapolis' lovely, patchouli-laden West Bank. He was opening for Laura Veirs whose music I am not really familiar with (and we actually left after Liam's set, much to the horror of those sitting around us. You're not staying for Laura?)
Don't know if it's weird to say I saw two Finns separated by two days or not. And true, the only reason I bought I'll Be Lightning was out of curiosity, you know, parentage considered, but I'll be damned if it isn't a great freaking disc. Truly. So not Crowded House. Very original. And yet, the young lad's knack for melody must just be a streaming DNA thing. And personally, it's a shame more people don't get to hear it, thanks to the state of American radio. Long story short: check it out. You can get it on iTunes as well. Then you can feel all cool because you're listening to something the critics love, but very few others have heard. Go you!
Liam and his singing partner E.J. Barnes rocked it out. Really, really good show. Too short. I would have loved to have heard every track from the album. And after the show, a few people came up to the stage, and those two were just so polite. I thought to myself: what a great sign that the young people of today ARE on track.
Then I felt ridiculously old, and left.
Because remember, I'm just an old scrapbooker now. Felt a bit too cougarish going to see that show, until I got there and realized I was surrounded by a bunch of older hippie types anyway. Then I felt bad for Liam. I wanted to shout: there's a younger audience for you out there, bucky. Keep plugging away!
So, along those scrapbooking lines, here are the tag book downloads for the next three months, if'n you're so inclined. I've had a handful of requests so I thought I'd upload them.
Even en Francais.

Hey hey! Looks like it didn't take much time for one of your french speaking fans (and a friend of mine too) to help you with this. She's right. August is Août in French. And just in case you ever need it: Septembre (September), Octobre (October), Novembre (November), Décembre (December). But those are easy ones that you probably already knew! LOL
Thanks for doing them in French once again! :D

The cougar thing made me laugh, so thanks!! I recently had a woman suggest AT A BUSINESS MEETING that being a cougar is a good thing and I should move to Austin TX to try it. I think I tend to share your view...

Watched the Will Ferrell/Dave Grohl clip yesterday. When I was done peeing myself I thought: ooh Cathy was right, that Dave Grohl is HOT! How have I not known this before now?!

Cathy,
I am making a school album similar to yours in your Clean and Simple. My first album for my son took a long time because I used white rub -on letters for the black strip that says 1 st Grade , 2nd Grade...etc. For my daughter , I would like to do it faster. Did you print your black strip on the computer on photo paper? I would appreciate any advice you can give!
Thank you, Sharon (In Pittsburgh )

Thanks for sharing tags again. Love the look of them. I am hoping to do Aug, Sep, and Oct. Will be getting married late Sep, and birthday month is Oct, Aug should be fun and full of last minute wedding crazy.

E.J Barnes is daughter of Jimmy Barnes, Australian rock legend and former front man of the quintessential Aussie rockers, Cold Chisel. I believe they are more than singing partners too, although not certain.

Cathy, from one Finn fan to another, you HAVE to check out Eliza Jane Barnes' father, Jimmy Barnes!! He is old like us but still a rocker!! His former band, Cold Chisel, you would love their music, I just know it! Cheers

I so agree with about Liam Finn. Have you checked out his uncle Tim (Neil's brother)? Especially check out Imaginery Kingdom - the lyrics just blow me away.
Between the three of them you'll get a Finn for every musical mood.

Cathy,
I created an album for my daughter which was a total scraplift of the one you made for Aiden. Would love to share it with you but not real sure how - it's posted on Shutterfly but I think I have to email you an invitation and I don't know your email and didn't know how else to comment you (and I'm really not a blabbering idiot IRL). So . . . my email address is rileighjr@cox.net and if you'd like to take a peak, shoot me an email.
:)

Cathy, you probably don't check comments this from this far back. I don't know how it works, actually. So I'm taking a chance. Can you put up the September through February tags? I should be able to just recreate this by myself...but I can't. I'm using a smaller version of the tag in my granddaughter's book and I'm trying to finish it this month.
Thank you!
