please help, if you can
update: michelle over at paper therapy is donating all the proceeds this week on the sale of her book to kimberly. If any of you are thinking of buying this book, it's a great time. : )
There are things that happen every day. Unexpected things. Sad things. Unimaginable things. To people like me. Or you. Or someone who lives down the street. Or someone you've never met before. But someone who is so much like you. Or like me.
A woman named Kimberly is such a person. I've never met her. I probably never will. She was going to be going on a trip with Tara Whitney and Emily Falconbridge to Thailand. With other women, like you. And like me. To be creative and have an amazing adventure.
Then her husband, 38 years old, had a stroke. And then the unimaginable. He passed away. Which leaves her. And two children. And my heart aches.
Tara and Emily held some silent auctions to raise some money for Kimberly. For expenses. To help. In any way, with this unimaginable thing.
If you would like to donate anything, I encourage you to join me in doing so.
I realize the idea that 10 dollars here or there... what does that really change? But we women in this community of creative people hold a lot of power to lift those up in times of great, great need.
Thank you so much.

In my work I get these reminders on a regular basis, some times I don't pay attention. Today I will pay attention. Thanks for posting the opportunity to help.

What a wonderful message of hope in a difficult time, to be helped, lifted up in a way by, the support of (hopefully) hundreds of people she has never even met. I'm off to Tara's Blog. . .

This is heartbreaking. I can't even begin to wrap my head around her pain.
Thanks for the reminder to be grateful for significant others we often take for granted, for friends who are there to help us put the pieces back together, and for good people who just want to help.

Cathy,
Thank you for posting this on your blog. My heart goes out to Kimberly and her family. I can't imagaine what she muct be going through now. My mother had a stroke two years ago that nearly took her away from us - very sudden and unexpected, but at least she is still here. I will definately check out Tara's blog.
Thanks,
Deitra

I was outbid on some of Emily's auctions, but I just bought Michelle's book. What a generous and supportive community.

I'm not usually lost for words, but the enormity of this loss has stunned me. I have just read Kimberly's blog entry and the raw emotion there has touched me deeply. Have made a donation and hope that all the support goes some way to easing things.
With love from the UK - thanks Cathy.

Cathy,
Thank you for posting this. Kimberly has been my blogging and scrapbooking friend for 3 years now. She is an amazing person, a wonderful Mom, and has always inspired me with her art. I am heart sick to hear of James passing. All I can do is cry as I type this. I don't know how Ethan and Alexander will deal not having there dad but, I do know that they have the strongest, most loving mom that they could ever have.
