I want to marry this salad. I'm serious.

My neighbor, who is really healthy and eats amazing food, recently passed along a recipe for cabbage slaw, slated to accompany fish tacos.

I decided to tweak the recipe a bit, adding a few extra calories, but created a flavor profile that I'm sorry, I would like to marry. Right now.

Featuring a subtle Asian flair, this salad went just as easily with shredded chicken tacos as it did with chicken satay we had last night (with Trader Joe's Satay Sauce in lieu of the one given by the recipe).  This salad recipe makes 4 huge servings, at 2 points a pop.

If you break down the salad into smaller servings, then you'll eat fewer points. I like to load up on this, and it's all I can do to not eat it every single night.

Great idea! I love fish tacos this looks like it would be good!

if it tastes even half as good as it looks I'm going to be a fan - thanks

I am making this tonight - I love you Cathy Zielske! I am doing Weight Watchers online and I have gotten some really great recipes from your blog, along with finding Gina's Weight Watchers recipe site. I can't wait to see the chicken satay receipe.

That looks fantastic! A departure from the typical salad. Thanks for sharing.

You have a tasty fish taco recipe? do tell. I have tried a couple but end up let down. Your salad looks great - will try it this week.

Molly, i don't have the full recipe for the fish tacos! just the salad! : )

I had something similiar to this at a dinner party the other week, but they added (sounds strange but it was good) sauteed raw ramen noodles and shrimp. They added the oriental ramen seasoning to it. No vinegar and cilantro I think. But definitely sesame oil.

Would you mind sharing the names of the fonts you used on the recipe page? Thanks so much.

The ingredients in that slaw sound wonderful. Im gonna try this out for sure.

That looks so yummy!

Have you ever just sautéed the cabbage in a little evoo and garlic husband and I are in love with cabbage!

Who knew eating healthy was soooo good!

This looks so yummy. I could (erm...can and do) eat blue cheese cole slaw all day long, and I am sure this would be just as delicious.

Thanks for the recipe! I'm always looking for ways to get those veggies and all that color into my diet!

This looks fab, thanks for sharing :-) Just - what is cilantro? (Bear with me, I'm English!!) xx

Oh sure, Avenir and Amelie!

Lisa, you will like it. Promise.

I think you guys call it coriander, if i'm not mistaken.

Ah, now coriander I know and love! It goes really well with lime :-) Thanks Cathy, now I know what to put on my shopping list this week! xx

For sure, I am trying this recipe this week. Looks delicious and only 2 points. WOW!

YUM! I can't wait to try this. I've been looking for some new salad ideas to try out and this just fits the bill.

I have a fabulous recipe for fish tacos that even my 5, 8 and 11-year-old children love! It's my own recipe made up of various parts of about 4 different fish taco recipes. It's so yummy!

I went vegan in January, so now only my hubby & kids get to enjoy it. Email me or post a comment on my blog ( and I'll send you the recipe.

Cathy - thank you for posting the salad recipe. I'm adding it to my binder of fabulous vegan recipes and I'll mention it on my blog, linking back to you, if I make it! (if that's ok)

Wow...that looks fantastic!

Hey would you be willin' to pass on athat fish taco recipe too? Darn it ya made me hungry!

Hi Cathy, I'm a fellow WWer & a Chef (and not to winge, but cooking is NOT a career that makes points-following easy . . . still, I made Gold (Lifetime to you) in Spring of 2009 - so have just survived a year of managing to maintain.) Anyhow, thought - given your title for this post - that you might like to know that in the catering world, when we leave things for a while for the flavours to 'come together' we call it 'allowing the flavours to marry.' Fun, eh?! Cheers.

wow thanks cathy!
after reading your blog about you hitting into the 150's, (Congrats!), i'm considering once again doing WWS. but i'm in the 20 point range as well, and i never can last a week on it. i just want to nap everyday. i'm not sure what i do wrong, but it makes it super hard if i have no engery left without a nap.
anyways, thanks again cathy. i love reading about your progress!

this salad sounds FANTASTIC!!!! I love fresh stuff - and ways to change it up because it's easy to get in a rut ;-) thanks for sharing - can't wait to try it!

Not only do I have a great salad to try tonight – I now know what cilantro is. We do indeed call it coriander over here in Blighty ;) Thanks!

This recipe sounded so good I went and got purple cabbage to add to my garden. Already growing cilantro! Also stopped at the grocery cause those little cabbage plants are going to take a while. LOL

I am going to make this right now for a community potluck tomorrow!! Can't wait to try it!

yum, sounds delish! have you tried the spicy peanut dressing from trader joe's? it's so good and has some kick, so a little goes a long way.
