Tell someone how much you appreciate them today

A lot of people who love music are really saddened by the passing of Lou Reed. I have to admit, I'd never listened to Lou before meeting Dan Zielske back in 1989 in Grapevine, Texas.

Lou's music seemed weird. And that was saying something, considering at that time, Bauhaus and Peter Gabriel were my two favorite bands.

But Dan and weird music went hand in hand and I found his quirky taste utterly charming. He expanded my musical views to be sure, even if I never really did come around on Orchestral Manuevers in the Dark.

It's been really cool to read all of the tributes to Lou's music and his infuence but I couldn't help but think, "Did he know he was that influential and that revered?" I'm guessing he did. Duh. He's Lou Reed. But it got me thinking about a book I recently read, Tuesdays with Morrie, wherein Morrie held a living funeral for himself so he could hear all the loving and tender and funny things people had to say about him.

Maybe that was a little self-serving, but heck he was dying, so why not?

Today, tell someone how much you appreciate them. Keep it simple. Spread it around.

As we are getting ready to enter a month where gratitude is the focus, why not?

I'll leave you with my favorite Lou Reed song. RIP Lou.

Thanks for sharing the cool video from Lou Reed, and also for your encouragement to share loving feelings with people around us today. Let me start by saying that I think you are really cool, Cathy. I'm a fairly new follower to your blog, and I love that everything you post feels real and genuine. You're rocking the blog gig, girl. Kudos!

Lou Reed was a staple in my high school, main street cruising days! Glad Dan turned your onto Lou!

Right now is always the best day to tell someone how much they mean to you. None of us are guaranteed the next second!

Cathy, I appreciate you so much that I feel as if I have been dipped in magic waters, because the one constant through all the years has been you, Cathy. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But you, Cathy, have marked the time. This blog, these thoughts, they're a part of our past. They remind us of all that once was good in America, and could be again. Oh... people do appreciate you, Cathy. People most definitely do.

Thank you for the reminder! Off to make a phone call!

Cathy, you are an awesome person. I enjoy your blog every day. It has helped me get back into scrapping and documenting life. You are a talented writer and you have awesome style.

Today at work, we received an email and one of the articles was living with gratitude. It made me think of 30 Days of Thankful. My friend and I are going to instant message each other 3 things that we are grateful for each day. It also encouraged me to start working on my title page. I have about 4 options planned (I'm doing 3 books - one for each daughter and one for me).

.....Check - one person told... on to the next.
Happy Halloween!
